      There are these things called "lawyers" and "courts". They're mostly found outside of your current workplace.

      IANAL, but refusing to leave sounds 100% like emotion-driven performative activism. But less-than-0% useful to your unlawful dismissal case.

        This is so disingenuous. If someone at your workplace told you "you're fired, get out" and HR said "they have no ability to fire you", don't even pretend you wouldn't go to work the next day.

        He has no authority and it is outright illegal for him to do this. Since they were still employed, they needed to come to work or they'd be in trouble for neglecting their duties.
